Both Philipp and Richard are big fans of Bobby Orlando, one of the preeminent electronic dance music producers of the 80s, and Runaway is a song inspired by him and the Hi-NRG movement of that time. Runaway is about someone who has been living in a new city for a few years, which was exciting to start with, but that, after a while, and as routine set in, became increasingly uninspiring and lacking in energy. They no longer like it there and feel a strong urge to leave. Hence, the chorus line “Run away, get away, leave today“.

Philipp used a vocoder for the vocals and gave the overall song a new touch, using new drum sounds, pads and melody lines. It was originally written with a classic pop structure and Philipp applied a very open structure to the remix, which has a lot more space.
